Hello everyone, on the eleventh chapter of the Techy Sum, volume 1, here’s the news that you’ve been looking for:

📱Tech news💻:

- Intel has been selected by U.S. DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) for Phase 1 of Space-BACN (Based Adaptive Communications Node) to develop low-cost, reconfigurable optical communications terminal for low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication.

- ExtremeTech line up a good post regarding Meta’s metaverse privacy concerns, which were envision by Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. Main concern would be the ability to monetize any ads using your eyes’s tracking movement, that could potentially lead to another erosion of individual’s right to life free from any disturbing intrusion. In also another related article, ExtremeTech opined that Microsoft Team’s inclusion on Horizon World’s Workrooms doesn’t solve any real-world problem regarding long working hours and unneeded attention from your boss to constantly working all the time (especially in metaverse setting).

- Due to U.S. government’s political pressure on not using any Chinese-made tech, Apple decided to drop YMTC (Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp) from supplying them 3D NAND Flash chip memory for next iPhone, iPad, and possibly iMac and Macbook too.

- Moderna and Merck are currently testing out personalized melanoma skin cancer vaccine, using mRNA, to combat the ever evolving cancer that might developed immunity based on previous vaccine exposure.

- TSMC were forced to cut back their capex (capital expenditure budget) investment for cutting-edge process node from $40 billion to $36 billion, due to weakening global tech demand. In a good news however, TSMC believed that N3 process node will become new source of revenue by 2023 (based on current profit of 2022 where N5 contributed 28% of revenue, while N7 contributed 26% of revenue and 10 nm contributed 12% of revenue).

- John Carmack, a well-known developer for Doom, expresses his disappointment on Meta’s inability to hit the goal for Meta’s VR headset, and calling Meta to actually focus on what the VR developer can do right now and rendering good polygons of avatar with cheap, yet affordable computing VR hardware solution, instead of pushing toward photorealism, ray tracing direction.

- Jonathan Goldberg of Techspot said that the solution proposed by Google for overcoming networking bottleneck using Aquilla has two problems: 1. it is extremely complex to maintain and develop for centralized A.I. neural network for reducing latency and 2. the solution for networking backward capabilities has already solved way long ago: packet switching. - Kanye West decided to bought out Parler, a controversial social media, known for it’s cesspool community in regard of ideological and racist view toward specific group. This move was in line with Kanye’s recent social media ban regarding his antisemitic view.

- Razer unveiled Razer Edge, a gaming phone designed for cloud gaming. It was powered by new Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chipset, which was actively cooled. It is slated to be fully release in 2023 and the prices starting at $400 and $500.

- Cloudflare released a new threat report for Q3 2022 regarding DDoS (distributed-denial-of-service) attack. Wynncraft, a popular Minecraft server for MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game), was hit by botnets around the world, such as one of the Mirai botnet variant, which consisted of both UDP and TCP floods. It reached the highest bitrate Cloudflare has ever seen in a DDoS attack, peaking at 2.5 Terabits per second (Tbps).

- [Rumor/Leaked] Abhishek Yadav spotted a listing of Samsung Galaxy S23 phone on Geekbench. It will sport an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, an Adreno 740 GPU, features 8GB of RAM and will run on Android 13.

- GCC compilers support are now arrive ahead of full implementation for Intel Meteor Lake and Sierra Forest CPU. It also features support for AVX-512 instructions for Sierra Forest.

🎮Video game news🎯:

- Perfect Dark, at least for NTSC version, has been fully decompiled in a clean room reverse-engineering effort by a coder, Ryan Dwyer. For your information, this effort is considered legal due to no proprietary code were use in this case, which means that Rare and Microsoft cannot bring him to any court case at all. Now, PC ports and mods, anyone?

- Digital Dreams shared a new video of TES (The Elder’s Scroll): Skyrim, running with ReShade (a global illumination ray tracing mod) and various Elysium Remastered mod. Anyone feel any adventuring mood once more?

- The Legends of Heroes: Trails to Azure, a direct sequel to Trails to Zero, will be launch on 14 March 2023 in North America region (17 March 2023 for Europe region) on PC (Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation 4.

- yakuzadeso, mod creator of Elden Ring’s Increased Draw Distance, were able to do some far draw distance trickery of Elden Ring with minimal impact toward CPU and GPU usage. Try it for yourself, and let us know about your experience so far.

- Feargus Urquhart, co-founder of Obsidian Entertainment, said in a recent interview with Dualshockers, that they are more than willing to develop next new games for Fallout series. If this does mean that Bethesda finally won’t be able to screw up the series and they can done it better, I’m more inclined with his idea, to be honest.

🚀Space news🌌:

- NASA engineer discovers that by using multiple thin layer as a shield for a Mars sample return rocket, it actually protects way better than a single, thick layer. This finding were based on NASA’s recent micro meteoroid dust bombardment test against the shield through the Remote Hypervelocity Test Laboratory facilities, located on the White Sands Test Facility near Las Cruces, New Mexico, U.S.

- Aman Choksi, an astrophotographer, told Space.com about his routine life while in the South Pole, to capture beautiful and stunning photos of auroras, eclipses and even Milky Way view.

- Hubble Space Telescope captured a great globular star clusters image of Terzan 4, important for researchers to be able to see and view over the course of the time relationship between the clusters.

- International Space Station (ISS)’s are now fitted with the Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT) instrument, which is essential to fill the void of missing data variable of the relationship between types of earth dust and the climate change, and to ensure that our planet didn’t end up too hot or too cold for us to live on this day and age.
